O for a 1,000 tongues to sing!
Phantom of the Opera star Katy Treharne & Rob Westall need your voice!
Phantom of the Opera star Katy Treharne (Pictured above) and Rob Westall urgently need singers of all ages and abilities to sing on a new exciting worship album.
The 1,000 voices worship album is made up of new contemporary worship songs written by Rob Westall and his band.
Due out later this year, the South Wales-based songwriter’s follow-up to his ‘Born to Worship’ album, features studio tracks including duets with other Christian artists, singers and worship leaders and choirs including, Bean Baker, Kat Mills and West End singer Katy Treharne.
The Welsh musical theatre star who starred as Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre London for many years is helping Rob to co-ordinate the ambitious project and features on the album herself.
These tracks will be mixed with submissions from anyone wishing to lend their voice to the project by a professional producer, in a bid to create a new fresh sound of praise.
Two singles have already been released from the album, due out later this year - ‘Never let me go,’ featuring Bean Baker, which was voted number one on the UK Christian chart’s rock section and ‘Jesus Rock on which I stand’.
The next song to be released from the project will be a stunning duet Rob has recorded with Katy Treharne called ‘I will trust in you’ and is out across all digital platforms on Easter Sunday (April 4th).
Rob Westall said:
“The Coronavirus pandemic has affected many things across the world, including the way in which we worship and sing together.
“Our aim is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part and sing from the safety of their own homes – we need 1,000 at the very least.
“With your voice and our professional production, we will create a sound that has not been heard for too long - the sound of people singing together in unison!”
Rob and Katy have put together a web page with full instructions, lyric sheets and guide tracks and resources for anyone wishing to take part, with a private Facebook group that people can join too.
“We hope it is an enjoyable thing for individuals, friends, families, worship teams, churches, choral groups and choirs etc. to take part in,” added Rob.
Katy Treharne, founded West End Has Faith, which supports Christians working in musical theatre. She is passionate about the project and has even recorded vocal warm-up videos for participants.
“You don’t have to consider yourself to have a great voice to take part, this project really is open to everyone,” she said.
“There’s an end of album medley we’d like everyone to sing on, but there’s also an expression medley where we’ve let the music run so people can worship and express their hearts to God with no restrictions.
“People are also welcome to submit recordings in their own languages too. We are excited to find out what this album will look and sound like and hope you enjoy the adventure and journey with us.”
All submissions need to be in before April 2nd 2021. For more information and to take part please click the button below:
